The Annual Information Management Conference (AIMC) is intended for and presented by members of the information management community and offers a mix of management and technical presentations.
Specifically, the objectives of the conference are to:
- Exchange strategic, tactical, managerial, and operational information concerning current and planned information technologies and office automation support systems across the Department.
- Promote a comprehensive and uniform approach to records management and improve the Department's records management processes.
- Provide guidance, standards, and vision for making investment decisions and tracking performance of those investments.
- Improve cooperation and collaboration in the management of information to cost-effectively meet the needs of the Department.
- Train attendees in new technology and best practices, advocate new methods, and ensure that Departmental Elements are managing IT resources in accordance with OMB and Departmental requirements and guidelines.
The conference agenda includes educational sessions, technical presentations, and exhibits. The conference also provides opportunities for the exchange of information as well as networking with representatives from Headquarters and Field sites, the Office of Management and Budget, the National Archives and Records Administration, and other Federal Agencies.
The conference provides a training based forum for DOE Federal and contractor employees to learn from DOE and industry experts and exchange information management ideas and new technologies. There is no charge to attend the conference.
We select speakers from both the Federal Government, including the Department or Energy and the National Nuclear Security Administration and State Government, as well as private industry. The 2006 conference Steering Committee Chair is Theanne Gordon from the DOE Office of the Chief Information Officer, IT Reform, and the Program Chair is Karen Wilson from the DOE Office of the Chief Information Officer, IT Reform.
What's New?
The conference format has been refreshed this year to include some exciting changes. Since Records Management is an integral part of Information Management, the Records Management Tracks have been integrated into all of the tracks for the conference. The Records Management meeting will be held on the third day of the conference.
