Charlene Douglass Memorial Award
2007 Nominations
The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2007 Charlene Douglass Memorial Award. Each year, the DOE OCIO accepts nominations to acknowledge a federal or contract employee in either the DOE or National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) who has significantly contributed to information security activities within the DOE/NNSA complex.
2007 marks the seventh year the Charlene Douglass Memorial Award has recognized significant achievement within the DOE community. It began with a posthumous award to Charlene Douglass in 2000.

- Sandra Goldston (2005)
- Dwayne Ramsey (2004)
- Diane Williams (2004)
- Kibbee Streetman (2003)
- Bill Hunteman (2002)
- Sandy Sparks (2001)
Nominees may be involved in any aspect of information or cyber security, such as, but not limited to:
- Training, education, and awareness
- Managing processes that improve information/cyber security
- Developing new technology that provides security for information/cyber systems
- Implementing new technology to improve information/cyber security while providing cost savings
- Providing outstanding service in information/cyber security
- Providing an outreach service in information/cyber security to the local community
- Advocating for site-wide or Department-wide information/cyber security initiatives.
The contributions may encompass either local or national efforts or both.
Nominations will be evaluated by a review committee made up of DOE/NNSA Headquarters and field personnel. The winner will be announced and honored with a Plaque at the 2007 DOE OCIO Cyber Security Training Conference (CST).
All nominations must be submitted on the Charlene Douglass Memorial Award nomination form.
Deadline for submissions is midnight, Central time, Friday, March 16, 2007.
Nomination Criteria
Nominations will be evaluated on the following:
- Originality and uniqueness of the activities described
- Extension of benefits beyond the nominee's organization, if applicable
- Perceived merit and relevance of the activities
- Scope of the activities and perceived impact.
Please be specific and provide adequate details.
NOTE: Activities described in the nomination may have involved participation in classified activities, but the nomination must be completely unclassified.
