The conference was held at the Westin Westminster Hotel, Westminster (Denver), Colorado. The Westin Westminster is a four diamond hotel located halfway between Boulder and downtown Denver. The area surrounding the hotel is highlighted by shops, theaters, restaurants and the country's largest ice arena.

About the Westminster (Denver) Area

Denver is the perfect venue for this year’s conference. It is an exciting, dynamic city that combines the technological age with the Wild West, and its skyscrapers mark the final transition between the Great Plains and the American West. Consistently voted a top location in the country to live and work, Denver is known for its cleanliness, friendliness, and climate, which includes more than 300 days of sunshine each year.

Despite being known as the "Mile High City,” the city is flat. Mountain peaks are clearly visible, but the foothills rise roughly fifteen miles west of downtown. The area around our hotel is an example of the growth of the city. There is always something going on. You can locate additional information about Denver at http://www.allabout-denver.com/.

Transportation

Transportation to the Denver area is available from a variety of national airline, train, and bus services. The Denver International Airport (DIA) is served by many US and domestic carriers, including Midwest, Southwest, USAir, United, Delta, and others. Currently, DIA is the fifth-busiest airport in the United States and the 10th-busiest in the world. Twenty-two airlines offer 1,200 flights including non-stops to 120 American cities. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, for the past three years, DIA had the fewest delays of any of the nation's 15 busiest airports. Approximate flight time from most parts of the country is 4 hours or less. Just about any information you need on DIA is available at http://www.flydenver.com/guide/index.asp.

Amtrak (800-872-7245; http://www.amtrak.com) also provides a daily service from many cities to the three different stations in the Denver area; please check the Amtrak website for more schedule information.

The hotel is approximately 30 minutes from the airport. A variety of transportation services to and from Denver International Airport are available for all ground transportation needs. Options include public transit, scheduled door-to-door shuttle van service, limousines, rental cars, and taxicabs. Because the hotel is located in a suburban area, car-pooling and shuttle services to and from the hotel are recommended. Contact the Ground Transportation Information Counter at 1-800-AIR-2DEN (locally at 303-342-4059). Hotel parking is free.

Weather

Denver has a mild, arid climate. In April, you can expect sunny days with highs near 63 and lows near 35. Please remember that conference rooms are generally cool; layering your clothing for air conditioning will help you enjoy the conference more fully. Dress for the conference is business casual; please dress appropriately (no jeans or shorts), and bring a sweater or jacket.

Meals

In-room coffee service is provided for overnight guests, and beverages will be offered in the conference room at 7:30 am, mid-morning, and mid-afternoon.
